Lili & Nick

Wedding at Cropley House, Baulkham Hills.

"Jack and the team were the best choice we made throughout the entire process. He sent us a photo on the night which was gorgeous — our sneak peek left us and our families speechless." – Lili

I don't think there was a single quiet moment in Lili and Nick's wedding, and if you've ever been to a Macedonian wedding, that probably doesn't surprise you.

The drums started early and set the tone for the whole day. Loud, joyful, impossible to ignore in the best way. Every time they kicked back in, the energy in the room lifted with them — people dancing, cheering, hugging, celebrating like they'd been waiting years for this exact day. Because for a lot of them, they had.

Then came the church. It's one of the most striking I've photographed, and the service carried a weight of tradition and meaning you could feel before a word was even said — a proper blend of cultures, families and history layered into one ceremony.

From there the celebrations barely slowed. Nick arrived to a classic car from Ace Convertibles, and the reception at Cropley House in Baulkham Hills matched the scale of the day perfectly, with a dance floor that never really emptied. By the time I left at 11pm, the drums were still going and nobody looked close to done.

Nick told me early on that he's not someone who loves being photographed. You wouldn't have known it. Once the day got moving, he was as much a part of the energy as anyone else in the room.

When I sat down with Lili afterwards to go through the gallery, she got emotional more than once — not just at the big moments, but at the small ones that tend to disappear in the blur of a wedding day until a photo brings them back. That's the part of this job I never take for granted.

These photos are shown here in black and white, because some of these moments didn't need colour to say what they needed to say. It's less about a trend and more about keeping the emotion and the movement front and centre, the way the day actually felt.

Lili and Nick, thank you for trusting Ona and me with a day this big. What a celebration.

If this feels like the kind of day you're after, I'd love to hear about yours.
