I have been photographing this city since I was thirteen.
I grew up in the Hills District and live in Penrith now, which I like to describe as Newcastle without the beaches, still buzzing with the same energy. It is a great place to raise our family, and I cannot imagine being anywhere else right now.
Long before weddings, I was photographing this city for myself. Mum used to let me catch the train into the city on my own during school holidays from around the age of thirteen, camera in hand, chasing the harbour and the skyline. Years of doing that means I know Sydney's best vantage points, the quieter corners most people miss, and roughly when the light is going to do something worth waiting for.
Sydney is a genuinely saturated market for wedding photography, and I do not have the kind of long standing venue relationships here that I have built in the Hunter Valley. What I do have is something I think matters just as much, real relationships with the other vendors, celebrants, planners and venues who make a Sydney wedding run properly on the day.
This city taught me to look for a photograph before I ever called myself a photographer. That has never really left me.

Planning a Sydney wedding day
Sydney is 12,300 square kilometres of harbour, hills, beaches and bushland, which is exactly why it needs a bit more thought than a smaller region would.
Sydney is bigger and more varied than it looks on a map
The largest natural harbour in the world, more than one hundred beaches, and a stretch of land that runs from the valleys and hills of the west to the harbour shores and beaches of the east. That range is the whole appeal. New architecture, the charm of The Rocks, a secluded beach, open fields or thick bush on the edge of the mountains. Whatever the feel you want for your wedding, Sydney genuinely has it somewhere, which also means the right setting takes a bit more working out than simply picking the closest venue.
Traffic is the thing that catches people out
Sydney traffic is genuinely difficult, and it is the single biggest factor I plan around on a Sydney wedding day. Whenever your ceremony and reception are not at the same address, that travel time eats into your day in a way that is easy to underestimate on paper. I build real travel windows into your timeline rather than a Google Maps best case, so the day still has breathing room once you are actually on the road.
The light changes completely depending on where you are
Harbourside light behaves nothing like the light out west, and neither behaves like a beach at golden hour. Knowing the city as well as I do means I already have a sense of where the light will be working for you at any given time of day, rather than discovering it on the day itself.

Drums from early in the morning, one of the most striking churches I have photographed, and a reception that matched the scale of the day perfectly. Lili and Nick's Macedonian wedding is the biggest celebration I have photographed in Sydney, and the energy in the room never once let up, right through until I left at 11pm with the drums still going.

IWhich parts of Sydney do you cover?+
All of it. Inner city, harbour, eastern suburbs, inner west, northern beaches, the Hills District, Western Sydney and everywhere in between. I grew up here and I know the city well beyond the well known wedding strips.
IIDo you charge travel within Sydney?+
No. Travel across Sydney is included, wherever your ceremony and reception are.
IIIOur ceremony and reception are in different suburbs. Is that a problem?+
Not a problem, but it is something we plan around properly. Sydney traffic is genuinely unpredictable, so I build real travel time into your timeline rather than what a map says on a quiet Tuesday, and we talk through the route together before the day.
IVDo you photograph elopements and small ceremonies in Sydney?+
Yes, and I love them. Some of my favourite Sydney days have been small, a registry office ceremony, two witnesses in the Botanic Garden, a walk through The Rocks afterward. Coverage starts from as little as 90 minutes.
VCan you recommend a Sydney venue for us?+
Often, yes. Between weddings and my own time photographing this city since I was a teenager, I have a good sense of what suits different kinds of days, whether you want harbour, bushland, beach or city architecture. Ask on the discovery call and I am happy to talk through it.
